Event Details

Father Gaunt will share recent CARA research on: sacramental life, especially among young adults; the impact of mobility and immigration; and the closing and opening of parishes. He will also touch on recent national polling on Catholic attitudes about the Eucharist and other Church teachings. CARA is a national research center affiliated with Georgetown University that conducts social scientific studies about the Catholic Church.

Speaker Bio

Father Gaunt, SJ, has served as the Executive Director of the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University in Washington, DC since 2011. He has recently edited or co-authored Pathways to Religious Life (2018), Catholic Bishops in the United States: Church Leadership in the Third Millennium (2019), New Faces, New Possibilities: Cultural Diversity and Structural Change in Institutes of Women Religious (2022), and Faith and Spiritual Life of Young Adult Catholics (2022).

Prior to coming to CARA, Father Gaunt served in Jesuit governance as the Socius/Executive Secretary of the Jesuit Conference-USA for nine years and the Formation and Studies Director of the Maryland and New York Jesuit Provinces for seven years. After ordination, he spent ten years in pastoral ministry in the Diocese of Charlotte. Father Gaunt has a master’s in public administration and a Ph.D. in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina.

JFAN Loyola Club invites you to a private pre-game talk by Chris Antonetti, president of baseball operations for the Guardians and Georgetown University alumnus, in the event space in the stadium's Corner Bar. Ticket price includes entry to Progressive Field, buffet dinner starting at 5:30 until after the first inning, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, cash bar available, and ticketed seating on The Family Deck.

Program Details:

4:15 p.m. - Gates Open for Event (Right Field Gate is closest to The Corner Bar)
4:45 p.m. - Presentation Begins
5:20 p.m. - Pregame event wraps up and guests move to the picnic area of the space
5:30 p.m. - Buffet Begins
6:40 p.m. - First Pitch
7:30 p.m. - Buffet Ends
~9:30 p.m. - Game Ends

Nicky Santos, SJ, Associate Professor of Marketing, Heider College of Business at Creighton University, shared his global experience and examined the Jesuit paradigm for business education, emphasizing purpose-driven leadership, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable growth. Participants were inspired to lead with heart and soul, fostering success that benefits both their organizations and communities.
